“Two things collided: Midget returned from Hawaii/Cali in 1962 where he learned board makers there used paper tissues printed with their logos (us Aussies still used stick-on aluminium badges). And right next door to Scott Dillon’s, where I was sanding/shaping, was Jim the Printer who made religious pamphlets. Jim quoted me 8 pounds to run off 100 units of the hand-assembled type with this logo. He produced them, Scott and I tested them, and that launched Jim into a career as the go-to guy for surfboard logos!
The funny thing is, I didn’t use them until 1966 when I made a bunch of Involvements in the old Mooloolaba fireworks. Now it’s our oldest McTavish logo!” - Bob McTavish.
